Wednesday, 10 March 2010: A big week for Sydney Easter Sale graduates continued across the Tasman on Wednesday when well-travelled stayer Zavite won the $NZ1 million Auckland Cup at Ellerslie.

Zavite, sold for $80,000 at the 2004 Inglis Easter Sale, is now a seven-year-old but has never raced in better form.

The gelkding by Zabeel from Miss Vita was offered through the Fairdale Stud draft and has proven an astute investment by trainer Anthony Cummings.

He has won 10 races and now boasts his first Group One success as his prizemoney heads towards the $2 million mark.

Zavite has been a consistent performer over a number of seasons and has been a stakes winner in four states of Australia. He was previously a 3200m winner of the Group 2 Adelaide Cup last year.

Today's G1 victory follows Easter graduates winning five of the six races run at Flemington last Saturday.

Zavite joins an ever growing list of international Group 1 winners for Inglis.

The Group race success recently extended to the United Arab Emirates when South African G1 winner Musir ($P900,000 2008 Easter, 3c Redoute's Choice-Dizzy De Lago) easily won the G3 UAE 2000 Guineas on the new Meydan track, taking his overall record to five wins in six starts.

Congratulations to Anthony Cummings and his team on a great training performance with Zavite. With stories in the press about a notable ex owner whingeing about his training techniques there is nothing more emphatic to prove his case than a well managed campaign resulting in a win on foreign shores. ”
