Thursday, 11 March 2010: Healthy increases across the board marked the closing day of the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale on Wednesday

With a strong buying bench of local, interstate and international investors, the sale saw over $1.48 million change hands for 114 yearlings sold at an impressive average price of $12,987.

The average price for the corresponding session in Adelaide last year was just $5,494.

The clearance rate of 76 per cent rose all through the day and matched the day one figures.

Top price on day two was $77,500 for a Bel Esprit colt given by leading Victorian trainer John Ledger.

Ledger was one of the more active buyers today along with the likes of Aquanita Racing (WA), Washpool Thoroughbreds, Darren Weir, Richard & David Jolly and Lloyd Kennewell.

"The buyers were out in force at Morphettville and got some great value," Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester said.

"Quality individuals were well sought out and were the subject of spirited bidding.

"The Adelaide Sale has a proud history and is regarded as one of the best value sales in the Southern Hemisphere."

"It is the sale where buyers can come and buy themselves a racetrack star for a price much lower than elsewhere around the country."

"South Australian bred horses have a proud history of winning feature races around the country and world and this is bound to continue into the future."

The Magic Millions Adelaide Complex will host an Autumn Mixed Thoroughbred Sale on April 11.
