The Mick Price-trained filly Seabrook, who had raced well in two prior starts without winning, scored well here, staking her claims as a Golden Slipper Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) prospect. She went back from her wide barrier (10) settled in tenth place before improving (still trapped wide) nearing the 600m. She put in a quick run at the 200m and finished too well to score a smart win. Fiesta raced in seventh place, also trapped deep. She challenged at the 200m took a narrow lead at the 100m and fought on gamely for a good (0.5 lengths) second. Into The Abyss showed good early pace and settled outside the leader (Setsuna) at a good tempo (first 600m 34.75) and kept battling on really well to take the minor placing. Setsuna worked in the early stages to lead and then held on quite well for (1.6 lengths) fourth in a sound first up run.
