Brilliant colt The Autumn Sun has been installed favourite to win the inaugural $7.5 million Golden Eagle to be run on November 2 next year.
The Chris Waller-trained star is $3.50 and a clear top pick ahead of fellow colts Graff and Zousain with the trio the only runners in single figures.
The Autumn Sun is also a $6 favourite to win the Cox Plate in 2019.
The son of Redoute’s Choice has already won three Group Ones in just six career starts and was simply brilliant winning the Caulfield Guineas prior to going for a spell.
Punters have quickly gravitated to him throughout his brief career and that is the case once again for The Golden Eagle, with TAB already taking bets for the favourite.
“One of the first bets taken on the race when we opened just after midday was $1,500 @ $3.50 for The Autumn Sun,” TAB’s Andrew Georgiou said.
“The money didn’t stop there either with multiple bets of $500 at the same quote rolling in.
“He is a really popular horse and I think punters just want a decent price for him, even if they have to wait nearly a year for the race to be run.
Such is The Autumn’s Sun’s dominance in the market that Group One winners such as Amphitrite and Extra Brut are at double figures.
