Today’s Horse Racing Tips – June 9

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on June 9.

Racecourse : Sunshine Coast (Australia)
Racecourse : Sunshine Coast (Australia)

TAB meetings are held across Australia this Sunday at Sunshine Coast, Swan Hill, Sapphire Coast, Hawkesbury, Kalgoorlie and Port Augusta.

Sunshine Coast: Race 6 @ 3.26pm.

They will really scoot along here with Tarzan and Darktown Strutter battling for the early lead. DARKTOWN STRUTTER (5) led all the way to score over this course and distance first up, then did a great job to finish just 2.1 lengths adrift of Plague Stone in a Listed race at Doomben last time. Classy mare who has won 8/14 and back in this company can add to that record. BOOMWAA (2) led into the straight and looked home only to be collared late last time over this trip at Casino. Won a similar race to this three starts back carrying the same weight. Looks the big threat. BARNSLEY (7) resumed from a spell with a barnstorming win over this course and distance recently. Up in grade but drops 6.5kgs and enjoys the benefits of the inside alley. TARZAN (1) has been disappointing this prep but is too good to leave out. SUGGESTED PLAY: #5 Darktown Strutter to be too good for these.

Hawkesbury: Race 6 @ 3:15pm.

Doctor Zous possesses good early speed. Having a speck at one currently $16 here. His name is ISILMO (4) for Godolphin. Too bad to be true when favourite at Kembla Grange most recently. Stewards Report post race indicated the horse to be 2/5 lame. Clearly worth forgiving that. Start prior he reeled them in stylishly to win from well back. If happy to overlook last start then he should be $5 here, indicating that the current price is well over the odds. Half to Kementari and happy to lean his way. DOCTOR ZOUS (3) will take plenty of pegging back. Maps to take control of this race and he hasn't put a foot wrong in his career to date. HOSTWIN SATURN (8) has place claims. SUGGESTED PLAY: Each-way all day for Isilmo.

Swan Hill: Race 9 @ 3:55pm

Even early speed in the Cup. Free Willy will go forward from the outside with He Ekscels. Mr Epic could take advantage of an inside draw. THINK BLEUE (5) has been close up behind Remember The Name and Widgee Turf at her past two after winning over this distance at Caulfield. She drops five kilos on her last run and the wide draw may not be a disadvantage by this stage of the day. Looks a strong chance. CONNERY (12) is progressing nicely through the grades and hasn't missed a place at the distance. He's won his past two and will be in the mix again. GUIZOT (3) can bounce back here off an unplaced run last start having won two on end prior to that. SPUNLAGO (4) is a four time winner at the distance and was a brave winner last start at Flemington. TAN TAT TRUSTING (10) chased home Spunlago last start and can run into the placings with luck. SUGGESTED PLAY: Think Bleue a win ticket.

Sapphire Coast: Race 7 @ 4:12pm

MOORE EUROS (8) is airborne at present. Ran her rivals ragged at this course two starts ago. Tackled a highway of good depth last time and was superb in third. Was 900m to 1200m on that occasion and certainly lost no admirers. Smart type and looks the testing material. Blinkers go on. BOMBDIGGITY (1) is lightly-raced. Never in the call at Randwick on resumption. Form last time in suggests he can be competitive. Added race fitness helps. Expecting better. FLORA BEL (7) aims for the hat-trick. Continues to conquer every challenge thrown by trainer Norm Gardner. Stable going well. SUGGESTED PLAY: Moore Euros for the win.

Kalgoorlie Race 6 @ 5:45pm

Excaro can lead from Axel Foley. EXCARO (3) has won two of his three runs back and did it by a space the latest heavily-supported. She will control from the rail and clearly rates to go on with it. Stablemate LADY LE JEAN (4) brings a string of placings but needs to find a length or two to beat the above. AXEL FOLEY (2) resumes and is capable at best. Might be more forward this time around and can fill a spot with a good ride from Hall. QUIRKY GIRL (7) hasn’t had much luck the last two and is worth a look. SELECTION: Keen on #3 Excaro. #1 Gangbuster also looks well set up in the final race and a double should be a consideration.

Port Augusta Race 2 @ 1:55pm

Hindley Street can roll over and lead. CHAPPETTE (8) was a bit green resuming for the new yard at the provincials and can only be improved. The David Jolly stable has a 44% strike rate at this venue and the well-bred filly can add to that up to a more suitable trip. HINDLEY STREET (3) can win this at best and pulled up with an issue third-up. Peaks now back 322m in trip and improvement won’t surprise in this grade. PARIS ON FIRE (6) gets the claim and is doing enough to make the finish. GOOD TIME MADAM (10) has a chance on the Strathalbyn effort two runs ago. SELECTION: #8 Chappette has more upside than most of these.
