Today’s Horse Racing Tips – 18th July 2020

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian metropolitan meetings for July 18.

Flemington: Race 8 @ 4.15pm
DOUBLE YOU TEE (5) ran below expectations last time at Caulfield, finishing fifth. Beaten just 3.25 lengths though, and the tempo was steady which probably didn't suit. A more truly run race here can bring him right into the game at each way odds. BARTHOLOMEU DIAS (9) was a most impressive winner last time over 1800m at Sandown-Hillside. Plenty more to come from him and he should be in the finish. CREEDENCE (10) ran on against the tempo last start after winning here two back. SALSAMOR (3) also in the mix. SELECTION: #5 Double You Tee has each way appeal.

Morphettville: Race 5 @ 2.31pm (AEST)
FOXGOSSIP (1) has improved with each run and was strong when leading throughout for an easy maiden win at Sale last start. Drawn to go forward again and has plenty of upside. Can go on with it. THE BRUMBY (5) was facing the starter for just the second time when he scored an emphatic win over 1200m at Murray Bridge last start. Heavily supported that day so the big run came as no surprise. Can take the next step today. Stablemate THE KRONE (3) is another last start maiden winner, his success coming narrowly over today's trip at Balaklava 17 days ago in a Class 1 against three-year-olds. Well drawn and is certainly up to the task. INSTANT CELEBRITY (8) was well in commission and got the job done in style on debut over 1050m on the main course here recently. Big step up in trip today but found the line well last time so should cope. SELECTION: Last-start maiden winner #1 Foxgossip has each way appeal.

Randwick-Kensington: Race 6 @ 2.40pm
HANDSPUN (4) took a good step forward last start when making light work of her rivals at Randwick over 1300m. Returned a new career peak and it's hard seeing her take a backwards step off that. Berry sticks aboard and she should prove hard to beat. MAN OF PEACE (1) should lead in the small field and is likely to get his own way. Can give a bit of cheek. SPENCER (5) can also be in the action for a long way with DIO D'ORO (8) also some chance. SELECTION: Keen on #4 Handspun.

Ipswich: Race 6 @ 2.52pm
MADDI ROCKS (9) was held up for much of the straight when resuming but hit the line well when clear. Proven second up and both career wins have come at this distance. Big chance from the low draw. VINCERE VOLARE (4) showed what she can do when drawing away for a dominant 3.5L win at Gold Coast second up. She can go on with the job. HOLLABACK GIRL (2) led and clung on at this course and distance last start, her second success from her past three outings. Can give a big sight again. YEAHNAH (12) has been runner up at her past three and has each way appeal. Last-start winner LOVE SQUIRRELS (3) deserves respect. SELECTION: #9 Maddi Rocks was luckless first up. Can atone.

Belmont: Race 5 @ 4.03pm (AEST)

Hard to tip against CHANTREA (6) who is unbeaten in five starts and was too good for most of these last time. Clearly the one to beat. CAMBIST (5) had her chance to beat Chantrea last time but will be the major stumbling block again. HEAVEN'S GIFT (8) gave them a fright before finishing third behind the aforementioned two. Will be thereabouts. EURASIA (2) and FINAL CHILL (4) among the place chances. SELECTION: #6 Chantrea to win again.
