RACE 4 (5) ROMANI GIRL: Talented mare is well placed in this grade after recent efforts including her excellent last start third at the Gold Coast where she was arguably stiff not have beaten Invincibella and Irithea in the Magic Millions mares race. She also had excuses at her previous start at this course when third in better grade. The niggle is a pedestrian pace as she is a backmarker but she has a jockey who knows her well and she won third up at this course last year.
RACE 5 (8) SUBPOENAED: Former New Zealander is ready to fly first-up after two impressive trials. She's a class above this lot on her best form that includes a win over the exciting Kiwi sprinter Catalyst – he's unbeaten since that clash - before she came to Sydney where she progressed from an impressive restricted win to taking on Group company in the spring where she had excuses. Should progress to something better.
RACE 7 (6) ALIZEE: Perfect conditions for this top class mare to go back to back in the Expressway Stakes and add another win to her superb first-up record. She's won her last four resuming starts including two over this course and distance and according to the Godolphin camp her lead-up trials have her bursting to produce another peak performance. I have huge respect for Kolding but when she's fresh few can match her turn of foot.

KOLDING (Randwick January 23): Outstanding miler has now had two trials and was trucking behind the pack at the finish in the first of the fastest 900m heats for the Group horses (54.29; 35.50) won by Dreamforce. Expect him to sprint strongly first-up off this work.
RANDWICK January 23: SUBPOENAED took the eye with an impressive third in a fast heat while Godolphin youngster GRAVINA was an eye catcher motoring home late in her 2YO heat won by On The Lead.
