19 Heats – 1 x 1200m (Open); 8 x 1000m (4 Open; 4 Maiden); 10 x 846m (2 Open; 6 2YO; 2 Maiden)

An interesting mix of heats that saw the Kris Lees stable roll out several of its top Group horses including IN HER TIME, GRAFF, LE ROMAIN and TACTICAL ADVANTAGE. The eye catcher was GRAFF getting home from last to finish a strong third in his 845m trial won by FROM THE HIP in a sharp 54.43 (34.71).

The standout winners in the open heats were SIR ELTON, EASY EDDIE and McCORMACK.

SIR ELTON really bounced back from his recent failure with the fastest 1000m heat win (60.01; 33.87) by almost seven lengths. He was trucking over his last 400m in fast time under a strong hold, showing the talent that will make him hard to beat if he can take this form to the races.

EASY EDDIE had an easy time of it holding a decisive 2.1 lengths margin over TACTICAL ADVANTAGE in his 845m heat (51.72; 35.04) while locally-trained McCORMACK was never out of second gear cruising to a 4.4 lengths in his 1000m heat in 60.84 (34.51).

Some of the big Sydney stables sent teams of 2YOs to this session for the 845m heats with the Peter and Paul Snowden stable producing a strong group of nice youngsters led by the impressive heat winner WAR MEMORIAL. He showed some class with the way he got away from his rivals to score by a soft five lengths win in 51.62 (34.69).

His stablemate GLOBAL QUEEN also impressed winning her heat in quick time (51.17; 34.65) and another of their team GENERAL SOLEIL showed ability with a strong third.

Wyong based Allan Denham is very good with his 2YOs and his Written Tycoon filly LESSING has the natural speed to win races after a slick win in the fastest of all the 10 heats over 845m (50.84; 34.81).

In the maiden heats Kim Waugh had a couple of handy winners in RIZZUTO and BETHENCOURT.
