RACE 3 (5) BEST STONE: This talented filly has been on the boil to resume since she recorded an impressive trial win at Canterbury on May 29, backed up by an easy hitout in a Randwick polytrack trial on June 12. She was scratched from a winnable race midweek, a sure sign her astute trainer John Thompson believes she can win this first-up. Best Stone has never finished outside the placings in seven starts including two wins and while the vaunted favourite Tailleur has abundant potential she appeals as a better gamble at the available odds in early markets.

RACE 6 (11) CONTINUATION: Looking for the well weighted improver in this average field of stayers and this stout 4YO by Melbourne Cup winner Fiorente ticks the right boxes. He boasts a win and three placings from five starts between 2100m and 2600m, adding to that record when he worked home strongly for a close third over 2140m in the heavy at Warwick Farm on June 17 when having only his third run since resuming. Ready to peak with a significant 5kg drop in weight off that effort.
