Chris Scholtz reviews Sydney barrier trials at Warwick Farm on August 21.
WARWICK FARM August 21
Inside Grass; Soft 7
13 Heats – 2 x 1200m (2 Open); 5 x 799m (5 Open); 6 x 795m (6 Maiden)
The focus was on Everest contender GYTRASH in his first Sydney trial with the South Australian star lining up against the classy local mare FASIKA in a strong 799m heat. They didn't disappoint with FASIKA showing she is right on her game for the start of her spring campaign with another impressive trial, working well within herself to hold off the late charging GYTRASH. She had plenty in reserve while the latter really showed his class with the way he extended in the last 50 metres. He is sure to benefit from his first serious right handed experience.
Plenty of #TABEverest interest out at Warwick Farm on Friday with @PrideRacing mare Fasika holding off @inglis_sales slot holder Gytrash over 800m with leader Goldfinch in third. @tabcomau @racing_gordon @7horseracing @TheRacesSA pic.twitter.com/FUQo0FyJnO

FASIKA clocked a fast 46.97 (33.31) but the quickest 799m heat was recorded by her Joe Pride-trained stablemate, the veteran marvel BALL OF MUSCLE. He sped over the trip in 46.09 (32.967) to score by 8.5 lengths, proving again that he is still one of the fastest short course sprinters in Sydney.
Chris Waller would have been delighted by the 799m heat win by his promising 3YO filly GIOVANNA RUN (47.55; 33.96). Waller's G1-placed mare MADAM ROUIGE also took the eye with her hard held third in her 799m heat won by ROMAN WOLF (47.44; 33.86) while GLOBAL QUEST will take benefit from his closing third behind ARCHERY BUTTS in their 799m heat (48.00; 34.25).
The Bjorn baker-trained SATURDAY SILENCE set the time standard in the maiden heats over 795m (46.98; 33.94), getting away from his rivals in the last 200m for a sharp 3.5 lengths win that augers well for his immediate future. Other maidens to take the eye included the previously noted COMPORTA, SOLAR FLASH and ACCOLADE.
LAURE ME IN is another in good form for his return to racing. He was noted at the Randwick trials on August 11 and put in another excellent effort in the fastest of the two 1200m heats (73.93; 36.00), working to the line under a good hold from off the pace to beat the classy mare GREYSFUL GLAMOUR.
A lovely trial from Laure Me In who traveled well to get up over Greysful Glamour @mcacajamez @PfiefferRacing pic.twitter.com/xYskeXXkIm
