Widden Stud has purchased an interest in Group 3 winner and one of the star colts of the season Anders (Not A Single Doubt) and he will take up stud duties at Widden Stud when he retires from racing.

"He is a very fast horse who has that beautiful strong sprinting confirmation and is outstanding physical," said Widden Stud owner Antony Thompson to Racing & Sports Bloodstock. "He has a really interesting pedigree and one you can do so much with. I think he is a fantastic addition to the Widden roster.

"We have bought into him with the existing owners all retaining an interest going forward and obviously will race in partnership with the owners and then he'll be retired to Widden. His rating has been through the roof and obviously fits in with what we look for."

This is the third colt Aquis have sold their interest in with Group 3 winner Prague (Redoute's Choice) and Farnan (Not A Single Doubt) set to join the Kia Ora Stud roster at the end of their racing careers and Thompson said he had been considering Anders for some time.

"We have been watching him quite closely and with Aquis' change of direction and being prepared to sell colts, and they don't have to necessarily stand at Aquis, which opens the door for us to start negotiations" said Thompson.

"There was obviously a lot of interest from the major farms down, but we were fairly determined to secure him.

"Not A Single Doubt has been a very good stallion and a fantastic speed influence. People are really starting to appreciate Not A Single Doubt and his qualities as a stallion and the job he's done. He does have a beautiful son here and he really has left a legacy."

Trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, Anders has made a good start to his Classic year with a dominant victory in the Rosebud Handicap (Listed, 1100m), a win in which he backed up with an equally impressive victory in the San Domenico Stakes (Gr 3, 1100m) on August 29. That win gave him a Timeform rating of 119 placing him third in the current seasons three-year-old table behind Russian Camelot (Camelot) and Rothfire (Rothesay).

Bred by Arrowfield and purchased by his trainer and Aquis Farm for $670,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the Arrowfield Stud draft, the colt is out of unraced War Emblem (Our Emblem) mare Madame Andree, making him a three-quarters brother to stakes-placed Snitzel (Redoute's Choice) colt Battleground.

His third dam is Appealing Story (Valid Appeal) - the dam of Grade 1 winner Exciting Story (Diablo) and Listed-winning trio Strong Memory (End Sweep), Sweeping Story (End Sweep) and Diablo's Story (Diablo) - who in turn produced fellow Listed winner Open Story (Open Forum).

Further back this is the family of Listed scorers Red Claudia (Agnes Tachyon) and Colourful Days (Fuji Kiseki).
