Newgate Farm has bought into the Richard and Michael Freedman-trained unbeaten colt Stay Inside, a son of the Hunter Valley farm’s resident first season sire Extreme Choice (Not A Single Doubt).

Stay Inside was sold from Kingstar Farm to Newgate Bloodstock at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Weanling Sale for $60,000. He was then bought by his trainers and Rick Connolly Bloodstock for $200,000 at the following year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

The colt’s first start came at Randwick on January 23 over 1000 metres which he duly won, scoring by two and three quarter lengths. This was backed up with a four length victory at Randwick last weekend when he won the Pierro Plate (1100m). This victory prompted the Golden Slipper (Gr 1, 1200m) contender to be promoted to the joint head of the Timeform 2YO table with a rating of 111.

Winner of the 2016 Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m), Extreme Choice has sired three winners in his first crop and is currently sitting in fourth place in the first season sires table by winners in Australia with that table headed by fellow Newgate Farm sire Flying Artie (Artie Schiller) whose son Artorius won Saturday’s Blue Diamond Stakes.
