Coolmore shuttler American Pharoah (Pioneerof The Nile) sired his second first-crop winner in Australia on Thursday as the the Neil Godbolt-trained Buck Pharoah (2 g ex Sequential by Lion Hunter) got off the mark at the third time of asking when he landed a maiden over 1000 metres at Port Macquarie.

Having finished second on both of his previous starts at Grafton, the two-year-old gelding got his head in front when he defeated Excelness (Exceed And Excel) by a length, while Boncassie (Bon Hoffa) was a further two and a quarter lengths away in third.

Buck Pharoah was purchased by his trainer for $33,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast National Yearling Sale from the Highgrove Stud draft and he is the fifth winner out of the unraced mare Sequential (Lion Hunter), who was purchased by Rosemont Stud for $70,000 at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in 2019.

Sequential's five winners are headed by Listed winner Excitable Boy (More Than Ready) and she is a half-sister to Listed winners Order Of The Sun (Encosta De Lago), Beauty (Smart Missile) and Get To Work (Snippets).

Further back this is the same pedigree as Group 1 winner Summer Passage (Snitzel).

Last spring Sequential foaled a filly by Newgate Farm's exciting young stallion Capitalist (Written Tycoon) and was covered by Rosemont Stud's resident stallion Starcraft (Soviet Star) in last November.

Buck Pharoah joins Head Of State as American Pharoah's other Australian-bred winner.

A winner of the US Triple Crown, American Pharoah's global winner count stands at 102, including 14 stakes winners headed by three top-flight winners; Harvey's Lil Goil, Van Gogh and Cafe Pharoah and he is standing at Coolmore's Ashford Stud in Kentucky for a fee of US$100,000 this year.
