Invincible Spirit sires 128th stakes winner
Invincible Spirit (Green Desert) sired his 128th stakes winner as the Kevin Ryan-trained Repartee (3 c ex Pleasantry by Johannesburg) landed the Carnarvon Stakes (Listed, 6f) at Windsor on Sunday.
Having his first start of his three-year-old career, Repartee stayed on well to beat Above (Anjaal) by half a length with another length and a quarter back to Maystar (Mayson) in third.
Purchased by Stephen Hillen and his trainer for 310,000gns at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale in 2018 from the Oghill House Stud draft, the colt is out of the unraced mare Pleasantry (Johannesburg) making him a three-quarter brother to multiple Group 1 winner and successful sire Kingman.
Kingman and Pleasantry are out of Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (Gr 1, 1600m) winner Zenda (Zamindar), who also produced Group 3 winner Remote (Dansili).
Zenda herself is a half-sister to three-time Group 1 winner and successful sire Oasis Dream (Green Desert) and Listed winner Hopeful Light (Warning).
Invincible Spirit stood at the Irish National Stud for a fee of €100,000 this year.
