The Christophe Ferland-trained Get Shirty (4 g ex Soccer Mom by Monsun) produced an impressive effort to win the Prix De Carrousel (Listed, 3000m) at Deauville on Saturday and in the process handed former Darley Stud stallion Teofilo (Galileo) with his 93rd stakes winner.

Last seen running third in the Prix Vicomtesse Vigier (Gr 2, 3000m), the gelding clearly appreciated the step back in class and pulled away to beat Ashrun (Authorized) by a length and three-quarters, while Ghostwatch (Dubawi) was another half a length away in third.

The four-year-old is out of dual winner Soccer Mom (Monsun), who is herself out of Sasuela (Dashing Blade) - the dam of Group 1 winner Seismos (Dalakhani) and Group 3 winner Samba Brazil (Teofilo).

Further back the gelding’s third dam Sacarina (Old Vic) - the dam of Group 1 winners Samum (Monsun), Schiaparelli (Monsun) and Salve Regina (Monsun) and Listed winner Seventh Sky (King’s Best). Salve Regina herself produced five winners, headed by Grade 2 winner Salve Germania (Peintre Celebre).

Sacarina is herself the grandam of top-flight-winning pair Sortilege (Tiger Hill) and Sea The Moon (Sea The Stars) and Group 3 winner Soudania (Sea The Stars).

Teofilo, whose progeny are headed by 17 Group 1 winners, including Kermadec, who stands at Darley’s Kelvinside base and Sun Stud-based Palentino.

The son of Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) stood at Darley’s Kildangan Stud base for a fee of €40,000 in 2020.
