3 minute read

Filly by Violence is bought by Sheamus Mills Bloodstock for US$200,000 in Keeneland

Sheamus Mills Bloodstock was active on the first day of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale on Monday when going to US$200,000 to secure a filly by the Hill ‘N’ Dale-based sire Violence (Medaglia d’Oro) out of Taste Of Heaven (Encosta De Lago). The filly will be trained in Australia by Mick Price and Michael Kent Junior.

Already the dam of Grade Three winner Heavenly Curling (Curlin), Taste Of Heaven was bought at the 2014 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale for $1,500,000 by James Harron Bloodstock on behalf of Hill ‘N’ Dale and was later sent to America. Later returned to Australia, she sold earlier this year for $1,600,000 to Mitchell Bloodstock at the National Broodmare Sale, when offered in foal to I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit), for a partnership that includes Gerry Harvey.  She has subsequently foaled a colt by the Yarraman Park-based sire.

The Violence filly, who was sold as Lot 190 by Glen Hill Farm as agent, is the fifth foal out of Taste Of Heaven. Her first, a filly by Medaglia d’Oro, was bought by Blue Sky Bloodstock and Aquis Farm for US$525,000 at the 2016 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale and is now in Australia.

Taste Of Heaven is out of Shantha’s Choice (Canny Lad) making her a sister to Manhattan Rain and a half-sister to the late multiple champion sire Redoute’s Choice (Danehill).
