Showtime, an impressive foal and a $1.1 million Magic Millions yearling, is reported to have let down magnificently since he took up residence at Arrowfield's Scone base in preparation for his first season this spring.

Sent to the celebrated Hawkes Racing stable as a rising 2YO, Showtime was up and running early finishing second at his 2YO debut in the spring of 2016.

He raced almost exclusively in Group company with the best of his own generation including She Will Reign, Pariah, Gunnison and Invader and then took on the best of all ages at weight-for-age as an older horse.

His best wins came as a 3YO in the G2 Stutt Stakes over 1600m at Moonee Valley and the G2 P.B. Lawrence Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield as a 4YO where held off multiple G1 winner Hartnell and six other G1 winners.

Showtime also recorded a series of excellent weight-for-age placings in the G1 All Aged Stakes, G2 Expressway Stakes and G1 Futurity Stakes, performances that saw him take up a familiar role rolling in front or close to the pace.

Showtime's turn of foot and tenacity accounted for his consistency in the best company, being a top five finisher in 15 of his 19 career starts.

Showtime emerged from the mating of Arrowfield's two-time champion sire Snitzel with accomplished broodmare Flidais.

That match had already produced the brilliant multiple Group winner Sweet Idea, who sealed her career with a dominant G1 Galaxy success as a 4YO.

Showtime's younger full sister Evening Slippers – also a seven-figure yearling – won and placed in Sydney as a 2YO this season.

Their dam Flidais is a daughter of the Gai Waterhouse-trained Electronic, a formidable middle-distance performer in the mid-1990s who won the G1 Ranvet Stakes and G1 AJC Metropolitan defeating Cox Plate winner The Phantom Chance.

Thanks to her sire Timber Country, Flidais also brings a desirable presence of the famed broodmare Fall Aspen to Showtime's pedigree.

His pedigree suggests mares with lines of Red Ransom, Sir Tristram, Last Tycoon, Mr. Prospector and General Nediym will nick well with Showtime plus mares that carry Seattle Slew blood.

Showtime is only the seventh homebred sire to stand under the Arrowfield banner, the previous six being:-

Danzero - Champion Sire of 2YOs, 40 stakeswinners, 6 G1 winners.

Flying Spur - Champion Sire in 2007, 99 stakeswinners, 12 G1 winners.

Beneteau – Sadly died after leaving two crops of 107 runners, 10 stakeswinners, two G1 winners.

Pariah - Dual Group-winning 2YO & 3YO whose first foals arrive this spring.

The Autumn Sun - Five-time G1 winner standing his first season in 2019.

Showtime will stand this spring on a fee of $11,000 inc. GST.
