Today's TAB meetings are held at Newcastle, Grafton, Kilmore, Swan Hill, Sunshine Coast, Port Lincoln, Bunbury and Hobart.

KILMORE: RACE 1 @ 1:10 PM

Tricky race to kick off the card with a few facing the starter for the first time. Of the raced brigade FAITHINHER (5) did everything but win with a close-up second at Ararat on debut and will have come on since that outing. Draws the inside alley for McDougall and should be in this for a long way. The well-related YERONGA SONGBIRD (8) (half to 8xG1 winning HK superstar Beauty Generation) wasn't too far off them in town when at the races for the first time before being tipped out for time to furnish. Can return in winning fashion. SWEET CHARLIE (4) just missed the placings at Yarra Valley and can improve enough with that run now under the belt. In the mix. MAEVE (6) hails from a handy barn and must be respected.
SELECTIONS: Faithinher to go one better.

SWAN HILL: RACE 2 @ 1:30 PM

MAUNARENTE (11) resumed off a long spell at Hamilton over this distance and just missed as a short-priced favourite. Will be fitter and has more up the sleeve. Coffey is booked and can use the low barrier. RUSTY GOLD (7) is an improver in a leading metro barn and draws to advantage. Keep safe. TRAPEZE DANCER (14) can also show more.
SELECTIONS: Maunarente appeals most.

PORT LINCOLN: RACE 3 @ 1:58 PM

HIGHLAND ANGEL (11) worked home well to grab third at Morphettville Parks last start after getting off the mark here the start prior Will find this much easier and is sure to be very competitive. ORIEDOS (5) has been thereabouts this campaign but just struggles to put a full race together. Drawn well and shoulders a solid record on the home track. Can give this a big shake. PRANCING IBIS (12) made progress last time out when finishing in the placings at Gawler after being in the firing line on the turn. Finds a suitable race and can figure prominently.
SELECTIONS: Backing Highland Angel to win.

SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 3 @ 1:59 PM

OLD SONG (5) was an eye-catcher when she returned from a spell two-and-a-half weeks ago, settling last but running on to be beaten 2.3 lengths into fourth over 1400m at Eagle Farm. Fitter and the longer trip suits. Can get the job done in this suitable assignment. ANEMACORE (2) missed by a nose on debut then atoned with a win over 1600m at this track last time, scoring comfortably. Sparingly raced and has more to offer. Could go through his grades now. SHOWDRA (8) is close to a win after back-to-back placings. She was was strongly fancied last start and ran on for second over 1600m at Grafton. Going well and is a leading contender. OCTAVIO (1) got off the mark over a similar trip last start and could go on with it. SELECTIONS: Old Song to win off an eye-catching return.

HOBART: RACE 7 @ 5:02 PM

ALVARINHO (4) resumes and was narrowly beaten both starts last preparation. Owns a solid trial and McCoull sticks from that. She will be ready to go and rates strongly. GEE GEE QUEEN BEE (1) wasn't disgraced at Mooney Valley and the two runs at Launceston prior stack right up. Peaks and looks suited. MAKE A DECISION (5) just missed first-up and then delivered the CL1 win here as expected. She has more upside and may sit closer today from an inside gate. Should get every chance to repeat, TITLE SHOT (3) led and won the 60 here first up and has more up the sleeve. She can't be ruled out as well.
SELECTIONS: Backing Alvarinho.

NEWCASTLE: RACE 6 @ 5:06 PM

MAGNATEAR (1) looks well placed second-up after going under as favourite at Hawkesbury when resuming. Fitter and suited on the home track and up in distance. Should take stopping. LOST ILLUSIONS (12) is a wild card on debut for top local stable and she's trialled okay for her first start. Watch for any support. AIX EN PROVENCE (2) did enough on debut to say he has some ability and will only be better for it. Genuine chance to be in the finish. COHESIVE (4) and LONHREEL (8) have claims.
SELECTIONS: Magnatear to win. Trifecta 1-2,4,8,12/2,4,8,12.

BUNBURY: RACE 6 @ 4:25 PM

ROCK THIS TOWN (2) resumed with a dominant victory at Northam, leading all the way to score by 3.7L in this grade. He does rise in weight, but he still has plenty of upside and can bring up back-to-back wins. SKY DUKE (3) resumes on the back of a nice trial at Belmont and is a winner first-up in the past. Should get every chance from a nice barrier and if he can be near his best first-up, he'll take plenty of beating. KINGS FLIRT (7) bounced back with a strong performance last start at Northam, beaten 2.2L after running home from the rear. He was slowly away that day though and with a cleaner jump today he can put himself right on speed and prove tough to run down. UNIVERSAL PLAYBOY (4) was trapped with and without cover first-up in a total forgive run. Expecting much better this time. MICHELADA (1) can be in the mix if she's at her best.
SELECTIONS: #2 Rock This Town is the one to beat.
