Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for April 19.

Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Orange, Cranbourne, Seymour, Gatton, Albany, Canberra and Darwin.

ORANGE: RACE 5 @ 3:10 PM

DAGON (5) close to his top now third-up and comes out of a strong race when a narrow fourth over 1000m at Wyong on March 14. Races best with runs spaced and expected to go close today. NONSHALAANT (4) fitter now and gets the 4kg claim again after showing plenty of fight when second over 1010m at this track on March 24. No excuses here and can go one better. BEAU FACTOR (8) tough gelding who returns from a spell of eight months. Undefeated here and this looks his pet trip. Sprints well fresh and will relish the drop in grade. DESTINY'S BOUNTY (1) scored a long overdue win when taking to the front with the 59.5kg to salute over 1100m at Cowra on March 4. This is tougher but not to be underestimated.
SELECTIONS: Dagon to win.

CRANBOURNE: RACE 1 @ 4:40 PM

SUN GIFT (8) has had two runs to date, solid on debut at Geelong over 1412m before appreciating the extra trip when second, beaten a nose over 1740m. Up in trip again here looks ideal and she should be going close. DEROZARIO (4) made a sharp jump in distance to 2000m at Pakenham second up and ran well for third, beaten two lengths. Fitter for that and should take running down from the soft draw. LORD PROTECTOR (2) was much better over a mile at Pakenham second up. Gets more ground now which should suit and can improve quickly. HOLLY'S STAR (6) held her ground back in the field on debut over a mile at Pakenham but should improve up in trip. REAL WILD CHILD (7) could sneak a place.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Sun Gift.

SEYMOUR: RACE 2 @ 2:00 PM

MR ASSERTIVE (4) was only beaten by a head at Ballarat last time out in what was a stronger race and before that, he was also runner-up on debut. He is perfectly placed in the pole position this time and should get the job done this time. On top. SETLIN CHARLIE (1) ran a couple of bold races at Wodonga earlier in the year and his brief spell since then would have done him the world of good. He can make the most of his handy gate and is expected to be right in the finish again. SUPERSONIC LEGEND (5) has been gelded since his solid effort for fifth on debut at Camperdown. The blinkers go on for the first time and his stable has been in very good form recently. Each-way value fresh up. BOUDICA WARRIOR (8) ran the race of an improver when finishing fifth at Echuca last time out. She has a home track advantage third up and can get a slice of the finish this time.
SELECTIONS: Mr Assertive to win.

GATTON: RACE 1 @ 11:05 AM

DARE TO LOVE (4) started at cricket score odds over this track and trip on debut but defied that market by running a close-up second. Sure to have improved with that race experience now under the belt and can go one better against this lot. SISTER GEORGIA (5) finished third in that same race and draws the inside alley with the claim. Ticks a few boxes. VIKING VALOUR (3) strips fitter third-up from the spell and is another to get some weight relief. Top-three commodity. Former Victorian HIDDEN MELODY (8) is first-up here but showed enough down south to warrant respect in a race like this. Respect any market confidence.
SELECTIONS: Dare To Love to break through.

ALBANY: RACE 4 @ 5:22 PM

DIVINE MERCY (2) sat up on the speed over 1940m here last time out and only tired late, beaten 2L at the finish. Now third-up where he's never missed the placings and out to a favourable trip. Right up to his best last start and with further improvement expected, it's ominous signs for his rivals. DEADLY AND FAST (3) never got into the race over 1800m at Ascot last time out after a dominant win over 1900m here the start prior. Out to this trip looks ideal and the wide draw isn't an issue. Can be finishing off strongly once again. THE ROAN RANGER (5) missed as favourite last time out, finishing 4.2L off the winner in an Open event over this course and distance. He's 34 days between runs, but he has raced well on the fresh side previously. Will be winding up strongly late. DOUBLE THUMBS UP (1) stormed over the top to win last time out and merits plenty of respect. KNENTII (9) is in the mix on best form.
SELECTIONS: Divine Mercy is the one to beat.

CANBERRA: RACE 4 @ 2:15 PM

TABEI (5) won a trial here and went close at Nowra on debut odds-on. She will have taken fitness and learning and Day stays aboard. A decent chance. Seib-trained DOWNTOWN'S ABBEY (3) is likely a quick improver. Folded late at Wagga but the debut effort there prior suggested she's up to this. MESSAGGERO (7) resumed here and didn't have much luck. Draws better today and Penza is a key jockey booking. ISAGURA (9) debuts with Collett taking the ride. She's trialled well here with Day up and has a soft barrier. Keep safe.
SELECTIONS: Going with Tabei.

DARWIN: RACE 5 @ 5:59 PM

MIAMI VICE (4) showed plenty of speed and ability when trained in Victoria and is making his local debut after finishing fourth in a 5 horse field at Warrnambool near the start of the year. He would have strengthened up a touch since then and is nicely placed over 1000 metres fresh up. Hard to beat, especially if the money comes for him. EXTREME EMOTION (6) finished third fresh up in his first local start since making the move from Victoria late last year. She has been given time to get over that effort and her trainer usually has a lot of success early with similar types. She is nicely placed to take this out. SIBERIAN LARCH (2) had his first run back nearly 5 weeks ago after returning from Hong Kong and finished fourth as favourite. She strips fitter and will be a winner at short notice. Follow your money here. TOUGH CRITIC (3) looks a place chance.
SELECTIONS: Miami Vice to win.
