French Trotting News - Etrier Summer Races 5 Ans - Qualif 1

3 minute read

Preview: Etrier Summer Races 5 Ans - Qualif 1.

A Group Two mounted event for five-year-olds, the Etrier Summer Races 5 Ans is the first qualifier in the series for the final G1 Prix de Normandie on 19 September. We look at the chance of each runner...

Granvillaise Bleue

Granvillaise Bleue has struggled with disqualifications in recent months. She is very capable when completing cleanly, as demonstrated when second in G2 Prix Paul Bastard (2700m) at Vincennes on 28 February. The five-year-old is proven at this grade and rates highly.

Galilée des Prés

Galilée des Prés has been raced predominately in driven events and not been seen in mounted company since 2019. Her recent third in the G2 Prix Jean le Gonidec (2700m) shows she is capable of performing at this level however the lack of mounted experience would be a concern.

Glorieuse Carnois

Glorieuse Carnois takes a well-deserved step up in class following two winning efforts at Enghien including Class C Prix de Fumel (2250m). She has produced five victories from her last eight outings and could sneak into the frame against tougher competition.

Girly Béco

Girly Béco has been racing consistently at the top level and cannot be dismissed in this field. She followed up a good second in the G2 Prix Camille Blaisot (2850m) with a fourth in the G1 Prix des Centaures (2200m) and has an opportunity to break through for the second time in Group company.

Gloria du Gers

Gloria du Gers is having her first start among mounted company. She remains unexposed tackling graded competition but has been racing well in driven events including a fourth in the Class A Prix de Loudeac (2700m) early April. If a switch to mounted contests sparks improvement, she could play a role in the closing stages.

Gef de Play

Gef de Play is chasing a third consecutive victory. He was an impressive winner in the Class A Prix Beaumanoir (2700m) and could have an impact on his return to graded competition. The five-year-old placed twice among Group Two company in 2019 and must be respected.

Good Luck Quick

Good Luck Quick has not finished out of the top four since February 2020. A winner of the G2 Prix Camille Blasoit (2850m) in late January, he's placed twice in graded company since and can be expected to feature in the closing stages.

Gangster du Wallon

Gangster du Wallon had been struggling to make his presence felt at Vincennes over the Winter and was given a four month break prior to a disappointing ninth at Cholet. He is a previous G1 winner (2019 G1 Prix de Vincennes) but would need to show better form before he could be supported with confidence.

WIN - Good Luck Quick

DARK HORSE - Granvillaise Bleue
