The three-year-old had been struggling to complete his races in the early part of his career, with four disqualifications from his first five outings. He made a break through when scoring in the Class F Prix Paris-Turf (2875m) on his sixth start on 21 May with a kilometre rating of 1'16'3 and showed signs of further improvement and maturity when recording 1'16'2 in the Prix de la Paubelière over the same course and distance progressing up one grade.
With confidence boosted by two Meslay-du-Maine victories, trainer-driver Jacques Bruneau is hopeful his three-year-old colt can step up in class and be competitive at Vincennes in the future, especially in a similar grade of race at metropolitan entry level. Iris Intense can continue to progress with maturity and will be a horse to watch when making the transition to metropolitan tracks.
