Flash Feeling flashes home at Flemington

3 minute read

The John Sadler-trained Flash Feeling came with a well-timed run to close over the top of his rivals when successful in the Mahogany Challenge Series Heat 2 (1700m).

The three-year-old son of Iffraaj went back to last under a patient Matthew Cartwright ride after jumping from the widest gate.

Given clear air in the home straight, Flash Feeling powered over the top of his rivals to record his second win from seven starts to defeat General Firepower and British Columbia right on the post.

Sadler's son Tom was on-hand to represent the stable and was full of praise for apprentice rider Cartwright, who has been an important part of Sadler Racing for a while.

"It was a really impressive ride, the way he handled the horse was the way of a senior and I'm hoping that a lot of other bigger stables will see that and put him on," he said.

"We've always known Flash Feeling  had the ability, it's been a good preparation to learn about him.

"Physically we've always felt he'll be better next time in but he just handles his racing so well and it's a good time of year with this prize money on a Saturday too good to ignore."

"I would imagine after today he'll probably go out but we've thought that the last two starts so it's hard to get rid of them when they're winning."

Flash Feeling is a graduate of the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready To Run Sale, where he was prepared by Prima Park and purchased by Dean Hawthorne for $160,000.

By former Haunui Farm shuttle stallion Iffraaj, Flash Feeling is out of the winning High Chaparral mare Shanzam, who in turn is out of the Group Three winning mare Shanzero.
