In-form jockey Vlad Duric steered Singapore Derby prospect Super Dynasty to a brilliant win in the $70,000 Class 3 race over 1600m on Sunday.

The four-year-old son of Fastnet Rock was back on the surface he once scored over in a Class 4 Division 1 race (1600m) three starts back.

Bustled up to the front by Duric, Super Dynasty shared the lead with Supernova (Zy Nor Azman) in the backstraight, before gradually gaining the advantage on his own.

Favourite Wolf Warrior (Michael Rodd) was one-off in fifth position, plotting a wide path as the field of 12 came rounding the bend.

Robin Hood (Simon Kok Wei Hoong), Supernova and Wolf Warrior gave chase, but Super Dynasty kept finding. 

The four-year-old grey gelding went on to score by one-and-three-quarter lengths from a gutsy Wolf Warrior, with Richebourg (Juan Paul van de Merwe) another half-a-length away in third.

The winning time was 1min 38.59 secs on the Polytrack mile.

At his 23rd winner for the season, Freedman thought everything fell into place in the race, and that win would put Super Dynasty in good stead for the Singapore Derby in two weeks' time.

"I gave him the best of chance today because he hasn't had the best of runs in the last two," said the Australian handler.

"We have established that he is a very good Polytrack horse, and today he's back on the Polytrack.

"Vlad had two rides on him previously, scoring one second and a win.

"And I put a visor on today just to sharpen him up, so he had a lot of things in his favour today.

"I knew that Bruce's horse (Supernova) was going to go forward, so I told Vlad to make up his mind to lead or to take a sit, and this horse likes to lead, so it's all good.

"He's a four-year-old, so hopefully if we can get a run, we will run in the Derby."

Tp be run on July 21, the Group 1 Singapore Derby (1800m) is the third and final leg of the Singapore Four-Year-Old Challenge series.

Duric bagged five winners for the weekend, three on Friday (Ocean Crossing, Official and Real Success), and a double on Sunday after he earlier scored aboard Aramco for trainer Shane Baertschiger (see previous report). He said that his mount had things his way, but still needed a bit more guidance in races.

"He did work well before the race, but he is a quirky horse. You don't know what he brings on raceday," said Duric.

"He had a good draw, so he could get a nice run up on the speed, and he excels on the Polytrack.

"The 10-year-old (Supernova) put a bit of pressure on me early. I was happy he rolled on and led the race.

"I would have sat off him, but he was just going a bit keen, and Zyrul also tried to hold his horse up, so I went straight on to take the lead.

"But he can hang a bit, he just wants to roll off the track.

"He's one of those horses where the more you fight him, the more he tends to slow up. So you have to keep his momentum going."

Super Dynasty , who ran sixth to Mr Clint in the Group 1 Singapore Guineas in May last year, has scored four wins from 17 stars thus far, earning close to $170,000 for the Number One Stable.
