Singapore racing best bets, race analysis looking at the full Singapore card Saturday, 01st May 2021 with selections & information on all the contenders.
RACE 1
1st Pick: BILLY ELLIOT (2) Impressive debut winner who is definitely better than Class 5. Trackwork has been solid. Awkward alley might make things less cruisy, but still remains hard to beat.
2nd Pick: ZYGARDE (7) Put in best run to-date when a closing second to Charming Diamond in a 1200m race. Will lap up extra 200m. Has drawn an alley. Next best.
3rd Pick: DIAMOND MINE (12) Removal of blinker-pacifiers and addition of winkers and shadow roll seem to have paid off at his last start when a bold second to Life Is Gamble. Will be chiming in late.
4th Pick: DON DE LA VEGA (3) Eased down in Class 5. Needs longer. Not the most reliable customer, but he might be thereabouts at the business end.
RACE 2
1st Pick: WAWASAN (3) Will take some beating if he goes forward from barrier No 1 and he gets away cheaply. Maiden win on the cards.
2nd Pick: IMA (2) Has been beating around the bush. Just tends to lose his focus inside the last 200m. Pacifiers back on. Stick with him.
3rd Pick: UNBRIDLED SWEEP (8) Surprised with a closing third to Easylights second-up. On that run, he can't be ignored.
4th Pick: KING ALBERT PARK (11) Barrier trials have been fair. Might not be 100% but is one to follow for the future.
RACE 3
1st Pick: SACRED GIFT (2) From a stable in form and could take a bit of beating.
2nd Pick: COUSTEAU (6) Stablemate of the top pick and can go close on best form.
3rd Pick: FIRST CHOICE (4) Has trialled well and should be kept safe here.
4th Pick: MAGNIFIQUE (5) Ran well last time out. Each-way chance again.
RACE 4
1st Pick: GOLDEN DASH (1) All seem to point to a win following his two close placings. Nice handy barrier. Will be in the firing line for a long way.
2nd Pick: CATCH THE TIGER (2) Didn't fire a shot when well-backed last time out. Blinkers off. Will jump from barrier No 1. Deserves another chance.
3rd Pick: RED RIDING WOOD (6) On the quick back-up. Made some ground after settling at the rear on Saturday. Include in calculations.
4th Pick: FRIDAY (7) Has not shown much in five starts. Gets the services of champion jockey Vlad Duric. Blinkers on and handy barrier. All this could make for a better weekend.
RACE 5
1st Pick: STAR JACK (5) Conditions suit him well here and a big run is expected.
2nd Pick: SHEPHERD'S HYMN (2) A good winner last time out and Vlad Duric stays on board here. High on the shortlist.
3rd Pick: LUCK OF MASTER (7) A good tempo can see a strong finish from this fellow.
4th Pick: MUSTENGO (10) In good order currently and should be right there at the death.
RACE 6
1st Pick: CIRCUIT STAR (1) Down in class. Just edged out by the smart Tiger Roar four runs back. Ignore last run when he was trapped wide. Merits consideration.
2nd Pick: HIGH LIMIT (4) Honest in this class. Trip suits. Drawn awkwardly, but he can also come from off the pace. Expect to see him in the mix when the whips are cracking.
3rd Pick: BOY NEXT DOOR (2) Stuck on well despite a wide trip last time out. Been almost two years since his last win. Seems to be coming back to form. Each-way claims.
4th Pick: NATE'S CHAMPION (7) Making slow headway. Won a barrier trial last week. Nice low draw. Might be able to sneak into the minors at fifth start.
RACE 7
1st Pick: WHAT YOU LIKE (7) Continues in great form and although this is tougher, he can go close again.
2nd Pick: HEADHUNTER (1) Topweight and sets the standard. Good in defeat when last seen and very interesting in this.
3rd Pick: EXDREAM (8) Disqualified from third last time out (rider weighed in 600g light). From a powerful stable and will be super fit.
4th Pick: VULCAN (3) More to do off this mark but should be included for the exotics.
RACE 8
1st Pick: SACRED REBEL (2) In what is an interesting race, this Mark Walker-trained runner can win this on his best form.
2nd Pick: SKYWALK (1) A smart horse on his day and tries new headgear this time around.
3rd Pick: WEBSTER (6) Ran a nice race on latest start and looks to be peaking at the right time.
4th Pick: YOU ROKK (8) Has a light weight and can prove the value in the contest.
RACE 9
1st Pick: NEW GARDEN (7) Handles Polytrack better. Doesn't win out of turn, but he can come out on top in this average lot.
2nd Pick: UNCLE LUCKY (12) Kranji's Uncle is still racing with zest. This is a winnable race for him.
3rd Pick: HOST THE NATION (11) At 11, he still has a bit of ticker left in the engine. Fast-finishing fourth on least preferred turf surface. Reverts to Polytrack. Handy gate. Keep safe.
4th Pick: RETALLICA (9) Scored only win over course and distance. Never got a chance to tuck in last time out. Drawn wide again, but still in with place claims.
RACE 10
1st Pick: ROMANTIC (6) Made strong bid last time out but just failed to catch Entertainer, who gives him four kilos this time. Can turn the tables.
2nd Pick: ENTERTAINER (2) Faultless record on 1100m (three wins from as many starts). Takes some catching when he bowls along in front. Barrier No 1 will make his job even easier.
3rd Pick: LATENT POWER (11) Found Class 4 a different proposition, but has been trialling like he's back on the warpath of late. No weight on his back. Keep in mind.
4th Pick: I AM SACRED (3) Never put in a blow last time out. Can bounce back if he is ridden a bit closer.
RACE 11
1st Pick: HEARTENING FLYER (3) Has bumped into a couple better on recent starts but he is a talented horse and we can see the best of him now going forward.
2nd Pick: MAGIC WAND (1) Ultra-consistent type who always gives his running and can do so again.
3rd Pick: SUN POWER (4) Thought to be a Singapore Derby horse going forward and has some nice Australian form to his name. Keep a close eye on him.
4th Pick: THE AUGUST (8) One at a price to add some value to the multiples.
RACE 12
1st Pick: STENMARK (10) Good run in a nice Novice last time out and has always shown enough in limited runs on the island. Strong chance.
2nd Pick: THE EXECUTIONER (7) Working towards a win very soon and this could be the race.
3rd Pick: LEGEND OF THE SUN (1) Last start winner and can still be competitive off this new mark.
4th Pick: WINNING HOBBY (8) The each-way play in the race.
