The three-year-old son of Frankel, owned by Sunday Racing Co Ltd, has a Breeders' Cup pedigree as he is out of 2015 Filly & Mare Sprint winner Wavell Avenue.

He has won two of his six starts for trainer Mitsumasa Nakauchida and ended his two year-old campaign by winning the G1 Asahi Hai Futurity.

In two runs this year he finished second in a G3 and was third in his most recent race in the G1 NHK Mile Championship in May.

Grenadier Guards is currently grazing at Northern Farm but is scheduled to begin his build-up to the Breeders' Cup in a G3 race at Nakayama in September.

Japan could have a significant presence at Del Mar with plans announced in May that Loves Only You, third behind Mishriff and Chrono Genesis in the Dubai Sheema Classic, was being aimed at the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf. Stablemate Justin is set to join her on the trip to contest the Breeders' Cup Sprint.
