A King soon to be crowned?

3 minute read

Andre Fabre’s Persian King may not yet have had his coronation but he’s moving towards it rapidly with his win at Longchamp on Sunday.

That was in the Poule d’Essai des Poulains over 1600m on a soft track, but this 3yo is looking very top drawer and it probably won’t matter too much what the track is like.  Carlos Laffon-Parias’s Shaman was a length away second and our roughie San Donato third on 29.0.

The fillies version went to H-A Pantall’s Castle Lady, owned by Godolphin, from Comme on 11.0 for J-C Rouget and third went to Kevin Ryan’s East with Jamie Spencer on board and they were on 8.00.  Favoured runners Suphala and Silva finished at the wrong end of the field of 10 runners.

Earlier the Prix St Georges for the sprinters saw Sestilio-jet put the jets into operation and win from Bawan and our roughie Ken Colt.  9 horses ran.
