Wow Damian Lane!

3 minute read

The Aussie jockey who is riding under a temporary licence in Japan has had a weekend to remember.

On Saturday he rode a 4 timer at Tokyo including the G2 winner of the Keio Hai Spring Cup and then on Sunday the G1 winner of the Victoria Mile plus the winner of the last race for good measure.

Saturday’s Keio Hai Spring Cup was over the 1400m and Lane managed to produce Tower of London up the outside to swamp the leaders and win by ¾ length to Linate who was only separated by a nose from Logi Cry and another nose to To The Crown.

Sunday’s G1 was of course over the mile and again Lane chose to come wide and stay out of trouble and finish with a fine run which set a new track record for a horse that was only 5th in the market.  Normcore is a 4yo filly by Harbinger.  She beat Primo Scene by a neck with Crocosmia on 30.8 in third and favourite Lucky Lilac fourth and Aerolithe fifth.
