Maker issues writ against Zayet

3 minute read

The trainer alleges that Zayat, who owed him US$120,000 in training fees and had been paying it off in monthly instalments, had defaulted on this arrangement.

The role the receiver plays in this arrangement isn't all that clear.  The court has placed Zayet racing under a receiver and Maker has yet to hear any details of what will be the situation with his relationship with Zayet.

This Saturday sees two G2 races at Santa Anita.  The San Pasqual sees the talented but erratic Midcourt on 3/1.  If he gets a start there should be no problem but Midcourt seems to be able to easily find trouble.  Baffert's Roadster who won the Santa Anita Derby is on 7/2, with Restrainedvengence and King Abner on 4/1.

The San Marcos is over 2000m on the downhill turf with United 8/5 and Cleopatra's Strike 2/1.  Oscar Dominguez 5/2 has had dealings with both runners in the past.

Following on the Lasix-free Pegasus there were no injuries to horses and no major bleeding problems.  Whether the trainers will wish to continue on a drug-free regime is still a huge debate in the US.
