The fabulous Faugheen

He may be 12yo and in his first season over fences but his win on Sunday sent the Leopardstown crowd delirious.

He had been a very popular horse when racing over hurdles winning multiple Gr.1s and it was amazing to see him come through as a chaser in the Novices Chase Gr 1.  His win was made easier by Battleoverdoyen coming down at the last with the runner-up spot going to Easy Game.

Earlier favourite Aspire Tower also fell at the last in the Juvenile Hurdle Gr 1.  This left the way clear for A Wave Of The Sea 12/1 for Joseph O'Brien and Barry Geraghty to win from Wolf Prince and Cerberus.

The Novice Hurdle went to a runaway Asterio Forlange who delighted trainer Mullins and jockey Mulins (Danny).  Easywork was 9 ½ lengths back in second and then there was a further 4 lengths to Mt Leinster.

The Gold Cup saw Delta Work get the better of Kemboy  by 1 ½ lengths with Presenting Percy third.  The delight of Elliott and Jack Kennedy was short lived when the 20 year old jockey broke his leg in a fall in the last.  It was the fourth time Kennedy has suffered a broken leg and he's had two broken collar bones to add to that.  We wish him a speedy recovery but will it be in time for Cheltenham?
