Benbatl will be running on dirt for the first time in Thursday's feature at Meydan.

The Saeed bin Suroor pupil has won on the turf on 3 continents but he will be on dirt in the Second Round of the Al Maktoum Challenge G2 over 1900m.

Gronkowski was second in the DWC 2019 and is entered for the Saudi Cup (as is Benbatl) and he may use this as a prep for that race.

The Doug Watson trained KImbear won the first round of the Matoum Challenge and comes into this in fine form with Pat Dobbs to ride.

Earlier the UAE 2000 Guineas sees 16 line up for the mile contest.  Laser Show impressed on winning the At Bastikiya Trial and is on 7/2 for what is actually quite an open race with horses coming from Scandinavia and the US as well as the usual suspects.  Commanding on 5/1 (if you can get it) looks like a worthy investment.  Al Modayal and Fore Left have both got good credentials and are on 6/1.
