At Cologne the Steinberg trained Fearless King won the G1 2000 Guineas.

Or to give it the German name Mehl-Mulhens Rennen.  Fearless King with his regular pilot Rene Piechuluk on board managed to inflict a rare defeat on the odds-on favourite Rubaiyat.  It was a thrilling finish with Fearless King, who is by Areion, getting a head margin in his favour.  Santurin at 20/1 was third home in a 7 runner field.
