Longchamp Arc Trials

3 minute read

The Prix Foy saw a bit of an upset when Anthony van Dyck defeated Stradivarius.

They rolled along in front not at any great pace and in retrospect Dettori should probably have taken it on.  However that is now history.  They are unlikely to clash in the Arc as Anthony van Dyck is entered in the Caulfield Cup and the Cox Plate.  Nagano Gold came from the back of the field to take third after starting on 17/1.

The day started off very nicely to us when our lovely friend Air de Valse won the Prix du Petit Couvert G3 over the 1000m.  She's related to Cirrus des Aigles and he's reported to be stoked with her win!  Favourite Wooded was second and Lady In France third.

The Grand Prix de Paris went to our e/w Mogul for Aidan O'Brien and P-C Boudot with In Swoop 8/1 second and Gold Trip 15/1 third.  Serpentine was 4th.

The Vermeille saw another Irish win when Tarnawa, who had played up badly going in to the stalls, redeemed herself by winning from favourite Raabihah with Dame Maillot a short head away third.  There was a stewards' enquiry after the race – not sure why – but in the end the result stood.

The Prix du Pin saw Andre Fabre quinella the race with Earthlight defefating stablemate Tropbeau by ¾ length.  Manjeer was third on 9/1.

There is increasing concern in France with the increase in COVID 19 cases and the possibility of this having an adverse impact on where the Arc will be run.
