Cambridgeshire Day at Newmarket

3 minute read

It's that time again when this great Heritage Handicap signals the closing stages of the flat season.

There's an interesting race for the 2yos here with 5 runners going over the 1600m of the Rowley Mile in the Royal Lodge.  Cobh is on 5/2 and Gear Up 10/3 but anything could win.

The Chevely Park is over 12oom and is for the 2yo fillies with 8 to run.  Dandalla is a promising daughter of Dandy Man and is on 11/4, but we have to go for Sacred because 1.  She's by Exceed and Excel and 2. Tom Marquand is riding her for William Haggas and that combo has been doing pretty well of late and 3. She runs in the Chevely Park colours.  11/2 looks value.  Umm Kulthum took the eye recently and this daughter of Kodiac is on 6/1.

The Middle Park is G1 for 2yo colts over 1200m with 8 to run.  The first two in the market are both by Mehmas – Method and Minzaal and they are on 11/4,  Lucky Vega was unlucky at his last outing so we will give him a good chance in this on 4/1, and don't forget Tactical – William Buick has the ride this time for Andre Balding and they are on 12/1 to do the right thing for the Queen.

So we come to the Cambridgeshire with a field of 29 to produce a cavalry charge over the 1800m course.  Tempus is on 11/2, Sinjaari 7/1 and Ilaraab 9/1 and after that use your sharp pin.
