40/1 shot gives Hanagan a boost.
Paul Hanagan had 6 months out with a back injury earlier in the year and got a welcome reward for all the hard yards involved when Majestic Dawn sailed away with the Cambridgeshire, winning by 4 ½ lengths from Lucander 18/1, Bell Rock 10/1 and You're Hired 100/1. There was only a nose in it between third and fourth but in the UK first four places are paid.
Earlier on New Mandate started favourite in the Royal Lodge and won from Ontario and Cobh in a 5 horse race.
The Chevely Park went to the Andrew Balding trained Alcohol Free, by No Nay Never, with Oisin Murphy in the irons. The Jeff Smith colours have been associated with several very good horses (Persian Punch in particular) and this looks like another promising horse. Miss Amulet, by Sir Prancelot, was second and Umm Kulthum third.
The Middle Park featured three runners by Mehmas, who had been placed in this and while we mentioned two of them we didn't mention the third who was Supremacy who went out and won! Lucky Vega was second and Minzaal, one of the Mehmas whom we had mentioned, was third just ahead of The Queen's Tactical.
