Two G2s at Sha Tin Easter Monday

3 minute read

First off we have The Peak Class 1 over 2000m. That's the second race on the card.

There are 9 runners here and we like Butterfield on 7.8 for Shum-Badel.  He's not the favourite – that is Glorious Dragon on 3.1 for Lui-Poon.  Both have been working well.  Now if they can persuade Time Warp to settle somewhere in the run instead of racing away for 1900m, then he would justify the 5.9.  Zac is in charge here on the Tony Cruz son of Archipenko.

The Group races have lost a bit of their lustre with Classique Legend heading back to Australia and Golden Sixty and Hot King Prawn having a break.  This is the ideal opportunity for Waikuku to strut his stuff in the Chairman's Trophy over 1600m.  John Size has booked Joao Moreira for the ride and they are odds-on and since there are only 6 runners there's not much value here.  Ka Ying Star is on 4.5 and both horses have been working well.  That's Race 3.

Race 9 is the Sprint Cup over 1200m and Richard Gibson's Wellington looks like assuming the mantle of top sprinter.  He's on 3.6 with Alex Badel on board.  We like the way Sky Field had been racing and will put him next of the 13 runners with Zac Purton riding for Caspar Fownes and they are on 7.1.  Beauty Applause often gets lost among all the other "Beauty" horses but is worthy of attention on his own – 6.3 for Size-Moreira.  And with a decent field we are putting in a roughie – old favourite Fat Turtle on 21.0.
