Now that the Irish had 10 of the first 11 in the Grand National attention turns to the flat.

The 2000 Guineas Trial is for both colts and geldings 3yos over 1400m and has 12 entries. A Case of You won for Ado McGuiness on debut at Dundalk and that has promoted him to favourite here.  The fact that he is by Hot Streak may have something to do with it!  Ronal Whelan will be on board.  Jim Bolger's Pocket Flare by Dawn Approach is first up this season but won a G3 last year and is on 7/2.  Our fancy here is Horoscope for Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore.  He's by No Nay Never and seems to be realising what it's all about so 9/2 here looks tempting.

The 1000 Guineas Trial is over the same trip with 15 starters.  Donnacha O'Brien's Shale ticks quite a few boxes having won the G1 Moyglare so the daughter of Galileo is on 2/1 with Ryan Moore to ride.  Empress Josephine is also by Galileo out of the lovely Lillie Langtry and she's on 9/2 with Seamus Heffernan riding for Aidan O'B.  Loch Lien is by Invincible Spirit and is on 5/1 – Harrington-Foley.

The Ballysax G3 is for 3yo over 2000m with a field of 8.  Bolshoi Ballet (yes, by Galileo) is on 11/8 for Aidan -Ryan.  Dermot Weld's Wuqood could be a threat on 7/2 with Colin Keane riding the son of Dubawi.  And Lough Derg is another Galileo – Aidan and Seamie.
