Big day at Sha Tin

3 minute read

Backed by BOC there are 3 G2s and 2 Class 2s on the card.

However they are not very full fields and is the pot being spread a bit too thinly?

The Class 2 BOC Life Handicap is over 1000m and has 8 runners. The Lor trained Master Eight is on 1.9 and Moreira rides, with Marvellous Witness on 2.8 for David Hayes and Karis Teetan and our roughie here is Gold Chest 25.0 for Richard Gibson and Matthew Poon.

The first of the G2s comes at Race 6 the Jockey Club Sprint over 1200m with 10 runners.  We like Courier Wonder and are forgetting his last outing and 2.5 or better is OK. Wellington is on 5.1 and we are adding Super Wealthy on 15.0.

The Jockey Club Mile is G2 and here we see the reappearance of arguably the best horse in Hong Kong – Golden Sixty, as usual in the capable hands of Vincent Ho.  He's unbackable with a possible quinella with Sky Darci on 10.0 maybe the way to go.  There's only 7 runners.

That's the same sized field for the Jockey Club Cup over 2000m.   The Chilean-bred Panfield comes into this on 2.6 for Millard=Teetan and we think KaYing Star could do well here after his good run last outing – currently on 7.1.

Race 9 is the BOC Credit Card Class 2 with 11 runners.  California Ten is currently on top on 4.5 but this is more open and we like Zebrowsksi on 6.0.  Celestial Power is a third pick on 7.1
