The Singapore racing industry will reward the various winners of the 2018 season at the Racing Appreciation Night 2018 which will be held at the JW Marriott Singapore South Beach on Monday, 21 January, 2019 at 6.30pm.
Formerly known as the Singapore Racing Awards, the annual gala night is hosted and coordinated by the Customer Care Department of the Singapore Turf Club.
As is the tradition, the glamour event honours the various winners of the 2018 season, and will be attended by both local and international racing personalities and dignitaries. This year, the proceeds from table sales will go to the Deaf Sports Association (DSA).
Six of the winners of the 17 awards up for grabs are already known - the five 2018 champions, namely Lim’s Stable as Leading Owner by Stakes won, Lucky Stable as Leading Owner by Number of Wins, Lee Freedman as Champion Trainer, Vlad Duric as Champion Jockey and Troy See as Champion Apprentice Jockey as well as the “Most Improved Horse” title awarded to Maximus.
A panel comprising the Singapore Turf Club Handicapping Panel, members of the media (English and Chinese press) and members of the TV broadcasting teams (English and Chinese) will cast their votes for nine of the remaining 11 awards, including the Horse of the Year award. The two Racing Media Awards (English and Chinese) will be selected by the Association of Racehorse Trainers Singapore.
Nominees to the various Awards are shortlisted primarily on the basis of their performances in Group and feature races.
