Purple Rain To Star

3 minute read

Former Malaysian based galloper Purple Rain impressed in his Singapore debut and now appears poised to break through in the fourth event.

Only seen twice in Malaysia, Purple Rain finished second on debut before killing them at his next start, leading throughout to win by 8L.

Joining the KS Tan stable late last year, Purple Rain did a good job in his Singapore debut only gunned down late over 1200m.

Since been kept fresh (40 days), Purple Rain has notably trialled well in the lead up, scoring by 3L over 1000m.

Made to find the line late, he extended well and should take good improvement from the hit-out.

Remaining in Kranji Stakes D company, Purple Rain appears well placed at the weights and has drawn to get a lovely run for CC Wong.

Unlike a majority of his rivals he hits this race on the up and possesses the best speed figures in the race.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings, he rates on top following his Singapore debut and given he remains open to further improvement, he sets a lofty standard for his rivals.

From the inside draw he is expected to lead and should certainly be in this for a long way.

The consistent Crazy Dreams hasn't been far off the mark in recent efforts and shapes as the main danger.

Dropping back in grade having contested Class 4 company at his past eight starts, he appears well placed on best form and has to be respected.

He gets further weight relief with the aid of the claim and he too has drawn to get a lovely run.

While mixing his form, he simply has been outclassed in recent efforts and suspect the real Crazy Dreams stands up this evening.

The Bruce Marsh trained Silver Joy possesses just the sole win to his name from nine starts, but is capable fresh and he too should appreciate the drop back in grade.

The wide draw is some concern, however he is likely to settle back in the field regardless and should be strong to the line late.

Of the rest, Turf Beauty appears the next in line.

While failing to fire a shot behind Sacred Croix last start, her form prior was very good and if able to bounce back, she is more than capable.

Michael Rodd sticks aboard which is a decent push and she cannot be taken lightly.

Good luck and happy punting.
