2019 EYE LINER STAKES – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS

Expecting I'm A Rippa and Bel Burgess to show speed from the gates. GAULOIS (11) caught the eye first up when he ran on well to place at Doomben over 1200m. Takes a step up in grade but he has never missed a place second up and has a strong record at this distance. Has the in-form Cahill in the saddle so ticks a few boxes.

CHAPTER AND VERSE (7) found the Group 1 too tough last time but he had scored an Eagle Farm win and a Group 3 fourth in his other two runs this campaign so this suits better. I'M A RIPPA (2) will find this much easier than last week's Stradbroke. Has claims on his previous third in the BRC Sprint.

NATCH (13) has drawn wide but is racing well so has claims with any luck. MR MARBELLOUZ (5) was close up over this distance last time and gets blinkers on.

Form Preview

West Australian visitor Man Booker appreciated the drop in class after racing in Group 1 company in Queensland at his first three runs this preparation to score a good win in this Listed event. Carrying top weight (59kg), he settled about eighth, wide with cover, tacking a solid tempo before improving (deep) nearing the home turn. He took the lead halfway down the straight and then fought back to score well, his 11th win from 26 starts. The $41 chance Astoria settled midfield, moved up (wide) from the 600m, challenged at the 150m and then battled gamely for a very good second at his second run back. Chapter And Verse settled well back from his wide barrier (14), got through, closer to the rails, rounding the home turn and then finished well to take a very good third with Snitch (1.7 lengths) fourth after making late ground from a midfield position.
