2019 HERBERT POWER STAKES – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS

Sully presses forward and Ventura Storm uses his low draw. Haky and True Self can work forward from wide draws.

HAKY (5) is an interesting runner here. Brings form in races familiar to Australian punters with his Kergorlay run a cracker for this behind a strong winner in Marmelo. Backed that up with an equally good effort at Longchamp last time.

Tricky race to line up, with runners coming from everywhere, but surprised if he isn't in the thick of it. RAHEEN HOUSE (2) was sent out favourite for the Ebor. Ran below his best but suspect he gives this a shake.

PRINCE OF ARRAN (1) ran really well there and backed it up at Kempton. Very good in this race last year. TRUE SELF (6) ties in with them off the Ebor. STEEL PRINCE (3) is humming along nicely here in Australia and will stack right up.

Form Preview

Having his third run this preparation after winning the Packer Plate (Gr 3, 2000m) at Randwick in April, The Chosen One staged a very good staying effort in winning here. He settled just beyond midfield in the 13-horse field before improving nicely from the 600m. He switched widest of all on straightening, went to fourth at the 200m and then finished too well to score a very good win. The British stayer Prince Of Arran ran a great race in his return to Australia. He began well and raced in fifth place before moving up well (deep) coming to the home turn. He took the lead at the 200m and then fought gamely under 58kg for second in a bold performance. Sully was handily placed in fourth spot before improving well nearing the home turn. He challenged on straightening and then battled very well for third. Wall Of Fire raced back in seventh place, improved from the 600m, was in a challenging position at the 300m and then held on well for fourth just in front of Hang Man who kept battling on nicely for fifth.
