Queensland has joined other states by suspending racing as authorities wait for results of coronavirus tests on a Melbourne-based jockey.

Wednesday's meetings at Sandown in Melbourne, Warwick Farm in Sydney and Ascot in Perth were abandoned mid-program because jockeys from those jurisdictions had been in contact with the the other jockey at race meetings.

The Launceston meeting on Wednesday night was called off and there will be no racing in Australia on Thursday pending the results of the test.

The unnamed person flew on a commercial flight on March 12 with another passenger since testing positive.

The jockey has not shown any symptoms.

The Eagle Farm program on Wednesday was completed even though a Queensland-based rider who had been in contact with the Victorian jockey was riding at the meeting.
