Elite Street will undergo an important jump out this week as he prepares to bounce back from his disappointing Melbourne debut.

The gun four-year-old suffered internal bleeding when he ran a distant last in the Group 1 Lightning Stakes (1000m) at Flemington.

Morton retains faith that Elite Street can revive his campaign ahead of the Group 1 Newmarket at Flemington on March 6.

"He will have a jump out on Friday with Mark Zahra," Morton told The Races WA.

"I want him to have another go down the Flemington straight.

"I'm hoping if he has any mental scars from his run the other day this will help him overcome it.

"He had five days in the paddock after the Lightning taking it pretty easy.

"He's now at Flemington after being at Caulfield with Nick Ryan.

"We had to do that as I couldn't be with him because of COVID restrictions.

"The five days in the paddock coincided with a brilliant spell of Melbourne weather.

"He got good sun on his back and looks in terrific shape.

"But if there are any problems with him, he will be coming straight home.

"I won't be taking any risks, but that decision will be made closer to race day."

Elite Street shot to national prominence last year when he won the Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at Ascot.

A son of Street Boss, Elite Street's Group 1 triumph came within five months of winning his maiden at Belmont.
