The main part of the Adelaide carnival is away with some important lead up Listed races.

Our main play is in the Port Adelaide Guineas where some fillies are well fancied but we want to be with the colt Let's Karaka Deel coming off his excellent first up second.

Here is a horse who should have finished a lot closer in the Victoria Derby and then kicked back off with a lovely second behind a good fellow 3yo in Dom To Shoot.

He has to be fitter again off that and more ground only suits. On top of that he can be ridden forward so the barrier won't be a hurdle and he can work over with one of his main dangers.

Looking at this to put his name forward a big South Australian Derby candidate and given the breeding, he will love every bit of that as well.

In the other black type race, the Dequetteville Stakes, we are happy to stick with the blue brigade and take Translation .

This filly by Frosted has shown tremendous speed every time and her maiden win was only affirmation that the form from the first two efforts was strong.

Over the short course that is the right formula so expecting Jessica Eaton to ping her right on the lure and from there, be so hard to run down.

With chances given to a few others, we could end up with a surprising price.
