A wide barrier hasn’t stopped bookmakers installing the in-form Second Slip favourite for Wednesday’s time honoured $107,250 Balaklava Cup (1600m).
The Will Clarken-trained galloper will be chasing a third win in succession when he jumps from the extreme outside barrier with Todd Pannell in the saddle and was quick to firm into $3.60 with tab.com.au after opening a $4 chance. Second Slip is currently a $2.80 favourite.
Mick Huxtable's Ritratto is marked a $5.00 elect from barrier 14, while last year's winner Winning Partner ($8.00) is the only other horses under double figure odds.
Darwin Cup winner Highly Decorated eased from $8 out to $13 and will start from the inside barrier chasing an eighth win on end.
