Godolphin trainer James Cummings is banking on Heresy dropping back to filly's grade as being decisive at Caulfield

Heresy lines up in the Group 2 Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) on Saturday, her first test beyond 1200m while it will give the Godolphin team an insight into the filly for later in the spring.

The daughter of Street Boss holds nominations in both the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on October 2 and the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on October 13.

Heresy has raced four times to date and while she is the winner of only one start, she has been placed on the other three occasions.

Starting her career with a placing in a Geelong maiden in April, Heresy headed to Adelaide to capture the Group 3 David Coles Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville in May.

After a spell, Heresy chased home Gimme Par first-up in the Group 3 Quezette Stakes (1100m) on August 14 before tackling the males in the Group 3 McNeil Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield two weeks later.

Settling back in the field, Damien Oliver persevered for inside runs and the filly ran on to finish third behind Bruckner and Artorius

Cummings said now was the opportunity to stretch her out in trip.

"She is going pretty well and is one of the few fillies to get so close to the colts of that entire cohort," Cummings said.

"She got beaten a neck against the males at Caulfield and that's going to look like good form as she drops back against the three-year-old fillies.

"If she can stretch her brilliance out to seven furlongs, then she's going to be a really good chance in this race."
