The Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr stable believes it has two genuine chances in a Stakes race at Caulfield on Wednesday and in turn a Group 1 contest later in the spring.

Grand Impact and Bews will represent Price and Kent Jnr in the Group 3 Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m) as a lead-up to the Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on October 29.

Price was fearful Bews would miss out on running on Wednesday and had contingency plans of taking the three-year-old to Pakenham on Friday night.

Bews was a debut winner at Sale on August 11 before finishing fifth at Bendigo two weeks later, beaten just over two lengths.

Price said this race was an early spring target and a springboard into other contests having won the race last year with Extreme Warrior and with Flying Artie in 2016.

"Bews is going great and we're trying to get him into the Coolmore," Price said.

"I was worried he would not get into the field as he was down the order in entry, but luckily it has fallen away a little.

"Grand Impact is going well also, and this has been the plan for him. He's got to be good enough on the day, but he'll show up for sure."

Grand Impact has won his two starts, scoring at Geelong in July and then at Sandown in early August.

The colt was given a break following his latest win, but Price said Grand Impact had trialled nicely for his return on Wednesday.

"We planned for this to be the route in, and he's trialled up well," Price said.

"We took them both to Caulfield on Saturday morning for a gallop. Bews worked a bit better, but Grand Impact is a lazy worker."

Grand Impact has been easy in the betting from $4.60 to $6 since Monday's barrier draw while Bews has been specked from $51 into $23 with TAB

Sydney raider Economics in the $2.80 top elect.
