Sigrid Carr can achieve the biggest success of her dual licence career if Queensborough Flyer salutes in the Vamos Stakes.
Sigrid 'Siggy' Carr is no stranger to success in Tasmania as a jockey but while she has held a dual jockey/trainer licence since 2018 her best chance of notching a black type win fulfilling both roles could come if Queensborough Flyer can turn around a disappointing result in Hobart with a win at Launceston.
Trained by Carr, Queensborough Flyer will also have her services in the saddle in the Group 3 Vamos Stakes (1400m) on Wednesday.
Finishing tenth in the Group 3 Bow Mistress Stakes (1200m) at Hobart on February 12 when jumping from barrier 12, the four-year-old was a winner of three of her four starts prior.
"We drew badly last start so I had to ride her a bit upside down," Carr said.
"She's a better horse when she can stalk the pace a little bit and get off the back of them so drawing (barrier) eight here is that bit better."
Rated an $11 chance, Queensborough Flyer faces opposition from $6 equal favourites Take The Sit and the Tom Dabernig-trained Embeller.
Carr admits that there is doubt over the mare's ability to see out the 1400-metre trip but remains confident nonetheless.
"We have the feeling that she will get the 1400 and I'm going to ride her to get cover this time after I bit the bullet last time pushing her forward and sitting outside the leader," she adds.
"She's come through the run sensationally and we wouldn't have her in it if we didn't think she could win it. We know she has got immense ability."
Of her other rides on the day, Carr looks to the fifth race, the PFD Food Services 3YO Classic (1200m) where she'll ride the Troy Baker-trained Sistine.
The three-year-old filly has won twice and placed as many times in her last four outings with the latest a second at Hobart on February 10.
"She's a real up-and-coming filly," Siggy said.
"She put in a really bold effort last start from a wide barrier where she took the lead.
"She got a nice breather and gave a good kick but just had to do it hard early.
"Back to Launceston, she'll find that a lot easier without the hill climb at Hobart."
Active at the Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale on Monday, Carr bought four yearlings, so the stocks are up at Siggy Carr Racing.
But for the possibility of Queensborough Flyer winning for the stable with Carr as trainer and jockey, there is no doubt it would be a big deal for her and her team.
As Carr's racing manager Tanya Coward said, "bloody oath it would".
