Grinzinger Star defeated Port Royal and Fulton Street to win last year's edition with Lachlan Overall in the saddle and has proven a good horse to the next generation of South Australian riders.

Apprentice jockeys have been in the saddle for all eight wins since joining the Kylie Mckerlie stable which includes victories in the Quorn, Streaky Bay, Kimba and Port Augusta Cups to go with his Hawker win in 2022.

Ingram has had just the three race rides after suffering a minor setback with injury.

"It's a really good opportunity for Harri,'' Racing SA Jockey Coach Dean Pettit said.

"The horse has been carrying big weights recently, so getting the 4kg weight relief with Harri's claim should have him right in the mix and a big chance of winning another Hawker feature,'' he said.
