Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for October 16.
Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Randwick, Caulfield, Ascot, Eagle Farm and Morphettville,
RANDWICK: RACE 7 @ 4:15 PM
NATURE STRIP (1) went awesome first up before just coming off that run last start when gunned down late by Eduardo. Since kept fresh (28 days) and has won 5/7 third up. Stalks Eduardo in the run and if able to produce his peak he simply should be too good. EDUARDO (3) will certainly be no easy beat and shapes as the main danger following his big run fresh. Second up is his sweet spot and he looms as a major threat with Nash expected to lead. GYTRASH (4) didn't have a lot of luck behind the first two last start and has placed in five of six attempts second up. CLASSIQUE LEGEND (2) won this race emphatically last year but faces a very stiff task in what will be his first run in close to a year.
SELECTIONS: Very keen on Nature Strip.

CAULFIELD: RACE 3 @ 1:25 PM
Thought SANDY PRINCE (4) did enough in the Stutt at the Valley last time. Winner there was one that had only just edged him out in a fast race prior and that form rates highly against these. Can press forward and back to 1400m may well suit. EXTREME FLIGHT (3) spaced them in a maiden at Moe and then went right on with the job at Sandown, beating a field that included some really nice horses and again giving the impression that he had more to come. CHEERFUL LEGEND (6) showed good ability last season, close up in the Sires his best run, and he looks back better this time around judged on his good maiden win. He has a hope here along with PRINCE ALEXANDER (7) who is another that wasn't far away in the Stutt and had won nicely at Sandown prior.
SELECTIONS: Backing Sandy Prince.
ASCOT: RACE 5 @ 3:27 PM
The very well-related SPRITELY STAR (6) hasn't done much wrong in her short career to date never finishing worse than fourth. Will have taken plenty of benefit from that dominant first-up victory and looks to have bigger fish to fry this preparation. Can go right on with it now. MY FURY (9) is starting to put it all together stringing two wins together on the bounce. Can play a key role in the finish. CELEBRITY WITNESS (3) goes well for Azzopardi who has three wins and four placings from 11 spins. In the mix. LITTLE FLIRT (2) has won two of her past three and can measure up on best figures. JAG THE JOKER (4) has placed two from five at this circuit and can earn a cheque.
SELECTIONS: Spritely Star to win.
EAGLE FARM: RACE 10 @ 5:23 PM
SIMPLY FLY (2) won four in a row to kick off last campaign, highlighted by his win in the rich 3YO Jewel. Unbeaten in two fresh attempts and should be ready to go again off a trial win. LE PALMIER (5) deserves a win having placed at all three starts this time in. Only missed a by head last start and gets the favours from the inside draw. Has the fitness edge on a few of these. TYCOON EVIE (7) resumes. Strikes what shapes as a suitable assignment, particularly after scratchings.
SELECTIONS: Simply Fly to maintain the unbeaten fresh record.
MORPHETTVILLE: RACE 9 @ 5:35 PM
APACHE STAR (2) does have the wide gate but if he can find the lead he can be hard to beat. He loves the softer ground and it might be hard to make it up by the last. Big show here. FIGHT FOR FREEDOM (8) is another poor off at the barriers but can improve here. Will be hoping the rain does come. LOMAX (3) gave away too much start the last couple. Better suited here at the mile. BOLT BY (4) has been progressing nicely this time in. Could place here.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Apache Star.
